Newest Acquisition Schrade Scrimshaw

Post by rea1eye »

Ever since I got my first Scrimshaw, I have been really interested in the
series ( Great American Outdoors) . I had 3 of them and continued to
look for another. I found this Barlow that was not in the greatest shape
but appeared to have little use. It cleaned up nice and took a great edge too.

First picture before cleaning.
Last picture my Scrimshaw family.

That'll work! Good job. ::tu::
Love to see old ones cleaned up a bit and given another shot a life!
How many different scrimshaw patterns did Schrade make? I notice the four you posted are all different.

During the 20 year run, Schrade made many patterns including bears, turkeys, racoons, bison,
trout, mustang, wolves, cougars, elk, and bobcat. Sometimes they had 2 animals on a knife
including eagle/whale, bear/fish, bear/cub, dog/pheasant.

At least 10 different knife patterns were used during the 2 decade run. Some are very common while
some are quite rare. I read that Schrade limited each run to a maximum of 10,000 units per
pattern-year-animal.
