All About Pocket Knives

Hunting pics taken in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Note the deer tied on the cars on the ferry. I think the time period stretches from the late 1920s until the early 1940s. These pics all came out of the same photo album, which was apparently kept over a period of years by one of these anonymous men.

Great pictures!
I really enjoy looking at the details of the pictures, identifying some of the firearms and wondering about some. I saw some Winchester '97s, several Savage 99s, a sporterized 1917 Enfield 30-06 and a bunch of Winchester lever actions, various models. Even wondered about the tall lace up boots, are they L.L.Beans?

I loved looking at those pictures. Early pictures! Those cars!
Reminded me of pictures of my dad at hunting but his pictures were in the late 40 - early fifties.
All these guys wanted to have their guns in the pictures. They handled their guns with care and respect. Naturally.
In the first bird picture I see two guys with Cutts Compensators on their barrels.

Wonderful photos; thanks for showing them! I noticed that some deer were hung by the head. A really bad idea if one values the meat; I hope no one does that anymore.

The sad thing is that these are all of the pics I have of these hunters. I bought them about 15 years ago from two young guys who were set up together as dealers at the huge Allentown (PA) photo/paper collectibles show. Although they had a pretty large and varied inventory of photos, I'm sure it was their first attempt at selling,

They told me that they had bought the hunting album at a flea market. They said that they weren't sure if there would be any interest in these types of images, so instead of bringing the entire album to the show, they pulled out what you see here and left the rest at home. They assured me that they would be back with the remainder of the album the next time the show was held in 6 months. I looked for them at the show for several years but I never saw them again. I also tried to get in touch via the phone number they gave me, but they never returned the messages that I left on their machine.

My suspicion is that having learned that there was a market for the images, when they returned home they put them on EBAY.

I would love to have acquired that complete album.

Some nice vintage duck calls on the table in the first bird hunting photo.

Maybe one of those is a Glodo family call? Who has a good eye for vintage calls? Big $$$ nowadays.

Great thread. I was really intrigued by one of the rifles. I had never seen a lever action like it before. Then I stumbled on a Savage rifle at a gun shop. Its pretty neat, hammer less, with an internal rotary magazine. Mine is chambered in .308.
