WHITE HOUSE & CLAUSS BY CASE

I just got these a few weeks ago when I bought several knives from an old time Case collector. The top nine are WHITE HOUSE and the bottom eight are CLAUSS.

I believe most, if not all were made by CASE. I took a picture of them all together to show the different Patterns represented. To me they look identical to a lot of patterns made by Case in the 1920's.

Thanks for looking!! ::tu::

Interesting, Roger, Bill "cbfd" on AAPK, bombed me last month with this Clauss as an extra in a trade. It s a great knife, didn't look Case to me. Any idea who made it?.
Maybe Steve will jump in here, I know he could identify all of the Case Patterns. I just didn't think this looked Case to me.

Great find Tom. ::tu:: Those White House's are really scarce (you already knew that). Would like to see some more pics of them if you get time. BTW in case anyone missed it there was a White House identical to yours with the Atlantic Steel advertising posted by a member requesting info on it, discussed in the Case forum section last month (thread titled White House tang stamped knife).

I did see that one Ken. I thought Jerry and some of the others did a great job of helping her with it. I woukd be glad to post any pictures anyone wants to see. I don't know how the guy I bought these from ended up with so many of the WHITE HOUSE knives. I think he had been collecting them for years.

Thanks Tom. Given their scarcity, certainly can see how he could have spent years finding those. I just did a search for White House on AAPK. Probably 95% of the hits are political references . Otherwise there's not much there, and only a few pictures of White House brand knives. Although most if not all are Case patterns, IMHO it would be a great resource for AAPK if you could post some pictures of the White House knives you have.

Thanks, Ken, I will try to post some individual pictures in the next few days. I feel sure some other members have some WHITE HOUSE knives as well so perhaps they will post theirs as well.

Tom the punch looks like it could be Imperial.Punch looks of lower quality than what Case would use.

What a beautiful bunch of knives, Tom. I didn't know of the White House brand. Individual pictures would be a treat.
Thanks for showing these.

Great haul Tom.

Looks like some CASE bone in there to me. Look forward to the additional pics. Was trying to see if I could tell the patterns but very hard to without some reference to length and without closer photo, at least for me. That said, the ad knife which I believe is a CASE 024-1/2 pattern @ 3 inches as a reference...

My opinion only, no expert here but if I had to guess based on the little I can see from the pics (my eyesight is failing me)...

the 2 on the bottom right are manufactured by CASE, 62024-1/2
the 2 on the top right are manufactured by CASE, 6253
3rd from the left bottom row maybe an 62031. real hard to tell from the pic.

Could be all wet on what I think they may be.

Hopefully Steve will chime in.

Not sure Tom. Looks like the green bone is pretty damn similar to a CASE 6202-1/2 although the jigging is a bit odd for CASE. Note sure about the small coke. Obviously if it is CASE it would be a 025 Barehead pattern. Not sure if that is CASE CT scales. Seems right for a CASE buy someone else will need to chime in.

Phil, Wouldn't want you to have to eat your hat, so you must be pretty sure they are made by CASE!!!

More WHITEHOUSE knives.

Knife #3 Greenbone sleeveboard closed length 3 5/8" NOTE: THIS IS A THREE BLADE KNIFE.
CASE??
PATTERN??

Knife # 4 Greenbone pen closed length 2 3/4
CASE MADE?
PATTERN??
Thanks,
Tom

Knife #4 possibly a CASE 62053. I originally said in first post a 6253 but with no length reference hard to tell. There is a 1/2" difference between the 2 frames. A 053 is 2-3/4". Bone looks smooth in that pic but I am sure it is not.

Thanks Jerry, One of the Clauss knives is the same exact pattern as knife # 3, the sleeveboard, so if we solve the WHITEHOUSE pattern the Clauss knife is solved as well.
Thanks , Tom

Tom, thanks for the great pictures! I'm not gonna argue with Jerry on the Case pattern numbers - I think he nailed them. I am 99% sure these were all made by Case, based on the patterns, blade grinds, materials (other than scales) - they just look Case. IMHO based on these and the few other White House stamped knives I have seen pictures of, Case made these as "SFO" with different than production scales. Assuming it's like the White House advertising knife posted earlier by Beag1eGal, the Atlantic Steel ad knife you have has French Ivory scales, which I've never seen on a Case.

Phil, if they're somehow proven not to be made by Case, I'll help you eat that hat. ::nod::

Knife # 6 Greenbone Jack Closed length 3 3/8"

Thanks for all the help and comments so far.

When I first looked at the group pic, I thought knife #5 might be a old CASE 42 pattern. No length provided I was unsure and still am based on the following comments. I think some have referenced it as a "reverse peanut" if I recall.
Assuming the stamp used by CASE is early 1920s' on some contract knives, some of the knives posted look like "Bradfordish" nail nicks, shields, etc to me. Again, not expert here, would wait for someone with more knowledge than I to confirm. Although I see definite similarities to length, etc to CASE, I am "knowledge handcuffed" as I no nothing besides CASE and for all I know different makers could have made similair patterns the same length, pin locations, etc.

Would love personally for Steve or another well versused CASE guy to weigh in, no offense inteded to all that have posted input. How dirty is your hat Phil if we are off base? Been thru the wash lately? Just kidding my friend.

Ken, please feel free to respectfully disagree with me anytime my friend. I was already wrong once on the forum today and the day is not over. Probably willy sign off soon as to not impact my batting average.

Regards All, Jerry

I was waiting for Jerry to make his declaration since he was on a roll identifying these patterns. But I guess his confidence is shaken now! So here goes my turn at bat. Still think they're all Case including these last 2. I'm gonna agree that number 5 is a 6242 based on what I can see in the picture. Knife 6 I think is a 6202. Anyone that has another opinion, please share it. I too would like to get some other opinions, or confirmation of our speculation, from some other eyeballs.

Hey Tom,

Throw a measurement on #3 Sleeveboard again. Only similair CASE I could see is a 76 pattern @ 3-5/8". I just noticed that is a 3 blade knife. Is it a Whittler? If so, may very well be a 6376-1/2. The other Jerry posted one over here on page 11 of this thread. Scroll down.
