I was told this is fake is that true?

In 1939 Joseph Gerber (advertising agency owner) had custom knife maker David Murphy make 24 sets of carving knife for some of his select customers. Catalog retailer Abercrombie & Fitch saw them and was so impressed with the quality of the knives they wanted to sell them. Thus was born Gerber Legendary Blades.

It is a Gerber Silver Knights 2 blade.
It looks right as rain to me! ::nod::

Not necessary for me to comment after Dale but i feel like it.
Absolutely your knife is perfectly fine. The 2 blade model is less common than the single blade & both are quite collectible.
I doubt anyone has faked a Silver Knight.

Here are some pictures of a two blade Silver Knight like yours.
I sold it in my store last year for $55.

You'll have to compare your knife to my pictures and see how it is condition wise compared to mine.
Condition is 95% of the equation, yours could be worth more or less than the one I sold.

The Silver Knight series was first called the Silver Eagle series, however Continental Trailways sued Gerber over the use of the Silver Eagle name and Gerber renamed the series Silver Knight.

Nice catch to have a Silver Eagle!

Yes, thank you, and it dates it as a first run knife. The name change happened quickly. Those Trailways dudes were not napping.

I like both of those. I've never seen those until today. Very good looking knives both of them. ::tu::

Very nice Bert. There are still examples that show up on ebay with a variety of handles. Shop with patience and you can get a good deal which i would say is under $45 if unused. I got my first one with checkered green handles to carry in my shaving kit and that was in 1979 same year my son was born is how i can remember.
