Removing a Post

If a moderator removes a post, is the poster informed that it has been removed and the reason for removing it ?

It's a rare occasion that I would remove a post. More often I may modify it to clean up the language. I'm not aware of anyone else removing posts with any regularity. If I found a post offensive enough to remove it I would (and have) send the writer of said post a PM letting them know I had removed it and why.
