Posting Pictures From An Android Device To AAPK

Post by jerryd6818 »

Here are step by step directions on how to post pictures directly to AAPK from an Android (I don't do Iphones). This should work for any Android device. If I left anything out, let me know.

Roger, I'm into the third month of my second year with this phone. I said many times during the first year, "this phone is smarter than I am". I'm finally starting to be more comfortable with it but the learning curve was steeper than I expected and I am still learning. Thanks for your comment and the support of my little tutorial.

I have noticed recently that pictures I have taken on my android phone are posting to AAPK without being resized. Bryan must have fixed the problem! ::tu:: ::tu::

Never had issue before but now I am. Says "unable to determine dimensions and check url.
This is from phone gallery. URL indicates it thinks it is a web link.
Tried all different megapixels and aspect ratios and still no dice. They are in .jpg format also.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Jerry

Thanks. I am familiar with the process but cannot complete it due to error upon upload.

Could it be the format of the picture you're trying to upload, Jerry?

Hey John,
It is jpeg as required so not file type.
Yes, megapixels or aspect ratio is my guess. On a MOTO Z3.
New phone 9 months ago and posted pics with no issues as I recall. I leave my device at default settings mainly.
So I didn't intenionally tinker with settings. Just not liking the format in some way, shape or form.

Oddly, the screenshot I added successfully is .png. AAPK never supported that as I recall.

Are your photos .jpeg or .png? Did AAPK stop .jpeg support for pictures?

Test.

Had to disable BBC code on my reply. Odd. That is a profile setting and I have not been very active lately so my preferences were not changed.
Explains the URL error for sure. FAQ to the rescue here.

Nope issue not gone. Seems like a sizing issue. All jpeg. One uploaded and another did not.

Taking a break from this now. Any input appreciated.

My photo size setting is 4:3 (8 MP). I have never changed it since I got this phone, Moto e5play, back in March.

I think it may be done a little bit differently, depending on which Android phone you have. I've never used a Galaxy nor a Motorola. I have an LG K30 Android. This is how it's done on my phone.

You don't say what device you are taking the pictures with nor what device you are posting the pictures with (phone - Android or iPhone, tablet - Android or Apple, camera? Some other device?) Details John. Details.

That’s not an Android device so what you’ve read in this thread may not be applicable. Bryan has recently been tinkering with the software trying to fix the issue https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... 48#p918986
Maybe iPhone 12 is different. ::shrug::

I have no trouble posting but they appear in lower resolution when I select "inline"

Then I see high resolution if I click on the pics

Is that true for everyone? Doesn't appear so... Some people's inline pics appear as hi-res

Should I do something differently?

I think that’s normal, but may depend on the pixel resolution of the posted picture. ::shrug:: Either way folks here know if they want to see it larger, they can just click on the picture.
