Help with pocket clip screws!

Post by Colonel26 »

I need some info from you Spyderco experts. I have a military, not paramilitary, that I've destroyed the pocket clip on. I called up Spyderco and ordered a new clip and they sent it right out.

Here's the problem. They sent me new screws and the new screws don't fit, they're too small. The head size is the same, but the threaded part is too small. I would just use the old screws, but one of them is stripped out.

Does Spyderco use different size screws on different models? On the same model?

Colonel, I can't answer your question, however I suggest you go to the forum at Spyderco.com and ask those guys. I discovered that site this week and there are some serious Spyderco collectors/users over there.

Did I just read that the Colonel admitted that he had a screw loose? ::shrug::

Lots of fake Spyderco knifes have the wrong size threads.

Where did you buy it?

I bought several stainless spyderco enduras recently and had quite a time getting the right screws. These knives were bought 20 years ago and put in a safe. Finally got the right screws for the clip. The guy I talked to told me that they have used between 45-50 different size screws since the 80s.

Tom, I’ve been accused (rightly so I admit) of that many times. Lol.

The issue has been resolved thankfully. I talked to Spyderco and as has been said already they have changed the screw sizes multiple times. However, in my case my Military was a fake. But Spyderco took care of me! They were very gracious and went out of their way getting me the real deal at an awesome price.

I can’t say enough about how well Spyderco takes care of their folks.
