Handle Material

The first Robeson knives were imported by Millard Robeson from England and Germany exclusively. This continued from 1979 until 1896 when Robeson began manufacturing knives in the United States. Since inception, the company has gone through several reorganizations & eventually ended up as a Queen Cutlery brand.

Handle Material

Post by geocash »

I recently got this 622064 Robeson. I believe the "6" indicates bone, rough black plastic or Delrin handles. Looking at them with magnification, I can tell they aren't bone. That leaves rough black & Delrin but I don't know which. My guess is rough black but it looks like the tang stamp was used around 1940 to 1964 so I can't rule out Delrin. The jigging pattern may be a giveaway, but not for me. Someone help me please.

Rough black. Nice looking knife.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

They are pressure molded black composition.

Common on Robeson from the WWII and following time-frame.

Thank you too, Charlie. This may be the first time I’ve had a knife with rough black unless I had one 50 or 60 years ago. I wish I could remember more of the knives I had as a kid.
