Such A Detailed History Posted By This Ebay Seller

The first Robeson knives were imported by Millard Robeson from England and Germany exclusively. This continued from 1979 until 1896 when Robeson began manufacturing knives in the United States. Since inception, the company has gone through several reorganizations & eventually ended up as a Queen Cutlery brand.

Such A Detailed History Posted By This Ebay Seller

Post by RobesonsRme.com »

I took a look at this Robeson letterhead, dated 1907, on Ebay because it popped up under my keyword search for "Terrier Cutlery"

The seller has appended a very detailed history of The Robeson Cutlery Company, which includes the pronoun "I", leaving the impression, whether intended or not, that he wrote it.

It's not the first time I've seen such appropriation on Ebay.

I think this is a ridiculous amount of verbiage to be in an ebay listing. It is interesting to those wanting to read or learn some of the Robeson history but it does not add anything to the item for sale.
Possibly OCD and person feels they MUST include everything rather than parse down to that which is relevant ?

Interesting history, but as you say Kj not really related to the item for sale.
His placement of the I makes it appear that he is the one that wrote the Robeson intro for Jim Sargent, again irrelevant. Perhaps he just likes to type. ::shrug::

I guess I didn't make my point clearly.

They copied that from my website and just pasted it into their auction.

I sent them a message about that and they apologized and added an attribution that it came from www.RobesonsRme.com.

And the history in Jim Sargent's book was written by me as well.

Yes, Charlie I see your point now. I was not aware that the passages were written by you.

I as well did not realize that Mr. Noyes was the author of the written text.

It's not copyrighted material, as far as I know. It's just not nice to copy and use it and not say from where they got it.

I have never denied anyone permission to use it when they contact me and ask.

Another thing that chaps is to receive a request to evaluate a knife and provide a detailed opinion, for free, only to read it, verbatim, in an auction description the next day.

Maybe I'm just too picky.

Looks like smoke and mirrors to me. Like it was said, has nothing to do with

the condition of the knife for sale. Leave a website address at end of

description for further education, but don't go on and on and on.
