This nice little knife sold on Ebay last week for $83.00 and some change.
This is only the second Robeson congress whittler I have ever seen. The other was an English import from about 1892 to 1895 and had horn handles. It was larger than this one and had lined bolsters.
Had this knife not had that broken back handle, I would have bought it myself. I settled for the photos.
The tang stamp dates this one about 1896 to 1899, according to the published research of Tom Kalcevic in Knives Can Talk!.
I have a patinaed little four blade pen knife with that stamp on all blades and pretty much that exact picked bone.

Even with the patch and replaced pin, it's a classy little knife. When I see old knives like this, I wonder why some guys focus on collecting new hi-tech jobs, and why knife companies can't seem to quite make it to this level, or chose not to. ___Dave

Should have got it anyways Charlie, although I have pictures I have to settle for.
Condition is not always, rarely, the determining factor for me. Have I got it.....
You deserved that knife.

Oh I like that one. Classy little number.

I did put a bid on it, but didn't follow it til it ended.
Not sure I would have gone 85 or more to get that.
It is a sweet little pattern.
I like that almost chevron shaped shield.
