Nice honest old bone handled Robeson daddy barlow.
I've never seen "sawn" plastic on an RCC bolstered barlow.

Dave, get yourself one of these (can be had for a couple of bucks or so on eBay, shipped) and you'll never have to wonder again. In the interest of full disclosure, it is sold from the Pacific Rim countries.MrBlister wrote:wonder those scales are sawn bone or sawn fake plastic?? oolol

Note the dots & spots & lines on the bone. That's the Haversian canals and blood vessels that travel within the Haversian canals of bone. Delrin being a synthetic material, of course does not have them. Pretty easy to pick out under magnification.

Ya'll leave Mr. Blister alone. He's old. Him got tired eyes.
Jerry, do you have one of those lighted magnifiers?
If so, are they any good and are they worth their cost?
I've seen them on the internet, but never pulled the trigger on one.

Charlie, here's one I like to use. 20x and two very bright LED lights. Too bright! You learn to avoid reflection with this one. It has some depth of field.
I have one like Jerrys too but not much depth of field so it's kind of fussy. You can, however, satisfy your curiosity of the itty bitty with the thing.

Re: A Rooskie a day
For the couple bucks those magnifiers cost I would say they are a great bargain!
I have several, just to be sure I can find one when I need one!
They work great and the light really helps, a LOT!
The eye piece travels up and down the body for better focus.
I would be lost without them on the really small stamps.

Re: A Rooskie a day
I had four but I sent one to MountainMan in the POS Roundtable. One of the three I still have sits on my desk and along with a regular magnifying glass, I use it all the time. The last time I bought them, I think I remember paying 87¢ each so at that price, I bought three. A bargain at twice the price. Now they're shipping out of China for $1.87. Still a tremendous bargain IMO.RobesonsRme.com wrote:Ya'll leave Mr. Blister alone. He's old. Him got tired eyes.

Re: A Rooskie a day
Tommy, had you not had one forced on you, would you ever have picked one up on your own? I'm going to guess the answer to that question is NO and I'm also going to guess neither would most of the guys on the forum. There are just a lot of good deals like that which get cast aside because of being pre-judged or folks think it's not going to be worth the trouble to order one.
