Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
That’s a nice one.
Is it ivoroid or plain white?

I would call it plain white. The pattern # is 433727 which, I think, would indicate ivory celluloid?

Should do so, yes.But that looks very white.
Nothing at all wrong with it, however.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
So, Charlie, you state nothing at all wrong with knife. Asssuming that it is all original, which it appears to be, it came from the factory with the wrong pattern #?
There are differing tang stamps on the blades, but I didn't think that unusual, see it all the time on older knives.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
No, I think the pattern number is correct. The only other it could be would be 833727, the "8" standing for patterned celluloid.
Robeson did use a plain white composition handle, but I've never seen it on a pre-war knife. Actually, I think I've only seen it on a three blade serpentine stockman. And as you can see, its pattern number also has a "4" in the first position. That is what prompted my question.
As to the tang stamps, it is much more rare to see a Robeson knife with all blades bearing the same stamp. Seen only on high quality premium knives, most usually pearl handled gentlemen's multiblades.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
I picked up this nice 2 3/4" Robeson pen at a gun show over the weekend for a fiver. It is a 622064, doesn't look like it has been used much.
A couple of things kind of different about this one, the tang stamp runs off the edge on the left.
The shield is machined right into the handle material instead of having a separate metal one added.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
The little 064 has pressure-molded black composition handles and an impressed "ROBESON" logo filled with white paint because bone and metal were in short supply during and shortly after WWII.
Nice little knife.

Thanks for the info Charlie. Like I said, it does not appear to have been used much and I was delighted to pick it up for $5.RobesonsRme.com wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:47 pm The little 064 has pressure-molded black composition handles and an impressed "ROBESON" logo filled with white paint because bone and metal were in short supply during and shortly after WWII.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
I just got this one today. A pretty decent old lightly used robeson shuredge 633865 jr cattle knife. All the blades have half stops which I thought was pretty neat for a three blade. A well built cutting tool.
The only issue is where the bone has pulled out a little from the liner. Not a big deal but if I decide to carry this knife that will have to be addressed. Nice bone, cool stamps and nickel silver liners which I think look much better than brass.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
Picked this Robeson and an older Imperial at a small open air trade lot set up in our county. A older gentleman under one awning had a few knives, and tools. But I picked up both knives and a 12 inch wood handled screwdriver for $25.
The Robeson is a 3-1/8" equal end pen knife. 622319. Great snap on both blades. Looks like it's been taken care of. Stamped ROBESON SHUREDGE U.S.A. All Capital Letters.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
I picked up another Robeson. A three blade stockman. It has the Robeson tangstamp with underlined Script Shuredge over U.S.A. I can find no pattern number. When I received it (as you can tell in the first photo, besides having a few scratches, it had some kind of residue like a dried glue on a couple of the blades and traces inside.
I cleaned it with some wd40 and oiled it with some synthetic trans fluid and set it in the sun to heat up some, then wiped it down. Finally got most of it off, and went over the blades with a little flitz to get off some of the stains. It turned out well. The blades have good snap with no play.
