My free Kershaw Tension.

Kershaw began its foray into the knife business sometime during 1974. The company was originally based in Portland Oregon, but most early knives were manufactured in Japan. The first US manufacturing plant was opened in 1997 & the company currently offers knives made in the U.S., Japan, & China. Pete Kershaw (an ex Gerber salesman) started the business.

My free Kershaw Tension.

Post by Old Folder »

In mid November I purchased four knives from Smoky Mountain Knife Works, I thought my order was sufficient to qualify for the free Kershaw Tension in my order. After I placed the order, I realized that I was a couple dollars short of the qualification for the Black Friday "Free Gifts" so I placed one more order to put me over the top. However, on my order receipt my freebie was not included. So I assumed it had to be on one order and not a combined order.
I was going to just let it go, but I emailed smkw and advised them of my mistake. The very next day I received an email from Ms. Shelly Sarnette, customer service rep. from smkw, she agreed with me that the order had to be on the same order. However, she was going to send me the promotional Kershaw knife anyway.
Four days later I received my order (Free Priority Mail) but the Kershaw was not included in the package. Believing that it was just a inner communication error, I let it go being that it was my mistake anyway.
The next day, I received another prepaid Priority Mail package. Yes, it was my Kershaw Tension. (Pictured below)
Thank you Ms. Sarnette. ::nod::

Cool Dan! That's first class customer service! And a very nice knife! ::tu:: :D

Good deal Ms. Sarnette & SMKW!!! ::tu:: :D Makes me want to become new customer! ::tu:: :D

Tom

Edit:
I just visited their shop. Unfortunately for me, they don't ship outside the US. ::doh::

I found this.:

"Our website does not ship outside the United States and it's territories, for Canadian customers please call us at 1-800-251-9306 to place your order. "

Looks like a performer! G-10 is perfect for a hard use knife as a handle material. My only Kershaw for many years was a Filter, which is a part of the even cheaper "Own It" series of Chinese-made folders. While it will be going with the rest of my Kershaws for sharpening, I just don't use it much because it is heavy. Even heavier than the American-made Onion design folders; Chive, Leek, and Scallion.

I had mine out, need to compare it to the Zero Tolerance knives I have just for the fun of it.

Not yet John.
The Kershaw Tension is still in its factory wrap, just twiddling its thumbs at me.
