Now we have a Colonial thread,Show'em

Colonial Knife was incorporated in 1926 by three brothers; Antonio, Domenic, & Fredrick Paolantonio. It grew to become one of the largest pocket knife manufacturers in the US during the 1960s. The company shut down in 1998, but was back into production under the Colonial Cutlery International Corporation in 2001. Colonial Cutlery International, Inc. brand is the imported line of knives and tools while the U.S.A.- made products fall under the Colonial Knife brand.

Very nice Colonial and what a great deal!

I am excited to post my first pictures in this thread.

This first picture is one of my favorite Colonial pictures. Not only are they a couple of my favorite Colonial knives but I really like this picture.

I am also adding another Colonial Fish knife I like very much. This beautiful brown celluliod. I bought this beauty from a very nice guy right here on AAPK! Thank you Knifeaholic!

I'm listing some knives in LOTS tonight and was kinda goin' through this pile of steel when I stumbled on this carver. I said to myself.....I think I'll make this into a blade lifter by hacking of 95% of the blade and.......wait......better see if there is a tang stamp.

When I saw it I thought of our new AAPK member Brain.....

Thought I'd share it here..

I had time to take a few more pictures today.

These Colonial jack knives were made in so many colors and are a lot of fun.

One of the white ones is bigger than the others and has 3 blades instead of 2. Its the only one I have ever seen this size. The green one is my favorite out of these. Love that green and it has a swedge on the blade that just looks cool.

Also, notice the 2 white ones. One is a little bigger than all the others and has a 3rd blade, a spey blade. This is the only one of these I have ever seen.

Must be more somewhere but I dont think they made as many or I would have found them and bought them by now. (Just kidding.. but maybe not) (Colonials... Its a sickness!)

Thanks!

Happy to have someone that can enjoy these with me. My wife can only say " Yes dear, very nice picture" so many times!

Quick one for today. 2 white Colonial Trappers.

Interesting comparison. Old and Older.

One is the curved stamp from 1926 to 1938 and the other one is from about 1973.

I made the picture look like it was from an old photo album.

B. Mauser,
Very nice! Any of the older USA made knives are great, used to not think too highly of Colonials, etc.. but they have become a lot more appealing as I learn more about them. I guess I found out there was more to life than Case, Tree brand and Old Timer ::nod:: !

Hi Treefarmer, and thank you.

Yes I agree there are so many amazing old USA made knives.

Colonial is my favorite but I like a bunch of others too. I will eventually start taking pictures of some of my others. Kabar and Kent NY are a couple other real fun ones I like.

But I have a bunch of Colonials to finish first. ::tu:: I am taking pictures of Forest Masters today.

Here is a quick one while I finish.

Here is a fun one. A Colonial toothpick easy open, handles replaced with micarta.

This changes the knife so much. Adds a little weight and make the knife very solid.

Very nice knives, Brian. I do like that toothpick.
I have had knives rehandled and it really makes them useful again gives them a great new look.

Thanks Joe. I found this one on Ebay a few months ago.

I have a couple colonials in great shape other than broken shell handles. I want to find someone to re handle them too someday.

I am sure you have seen the one Treefarmer posted here. Beautiful wood and even has the badge. Boy I like that one.

Here is a disappointing one. I ordered this from Ebay.

It was in great shape before he mailed it. He stuck it in a plain manila envelope with no padding at all. Used less than half what he charged me for shipping too.

I cant decide if I should just go ahead and take it out or what. I guess as long as its in there its still brand new but kind of not worth it with the damaged plastic. I think I will just put it away and think about it a while.

I've just scrolled through this Colonial thread and once again was reminded of what a wealth of information Bonfire Bob shared with AAPK!
I posted this Colonial in the mail call a while back, it was a "bonus" from 313Mike. But after running through all the pages of this thread this one needs to be on the Colonial page even if it has been modified. Mike said it had a cracked plastic handle and he allowed a budding knife mechanic to work on it. It is just a great feeling knife, I'm carrying it every now and then :) . The Bocote wood and the cloud shield really set this one off, plus the half stops. Would have been interesting to read Bonfire Bob's take on this one :) .
