Help With Leverlock Please

Post by dto1982 »

Hey guys,

Picked up this old lever lock and I'm trying to figure out a few things. Brand, age, and is it worth fixing. I had a quote for over 200 bucks for a custom made blade, new spring, etc. Just not sure what I'm working with to begin with. Thanks everyone.

Does it have any tang stamp or other markings?

The only.thing that I can make out on it is "gregg" on the base.of the blade as well as the side. Also some numbers, looks like a phone number someone hand engraved onto it.

I have to think that little jog in the handle must be fairly unique to a specific brand. I don't know what it is, but that seems like a big clue for someone that does.

The jog in the handles looks like the folding bowie knives "pig sticker" to me. The cut out is for the folding guards on those. OK, now I see the hole in the tang for the gaurds on yours. I believe these are lever release not lever locks.

Why don't you put it on Ebay with a made-up story about your grandfather getting it off the beach at Normandy in WWII?

You might get two thousand dollars for it.

Usually that cross thatched pattern on bone is of Japanese origin , I have seen these marked ELIX and a couple other markings that I cant remember. i`d say 60s vintage but may be off. Yours is missing the folding guard

Why is that blade so tiny? It looks out of proportion to the entire knife.
