Pull Ball Switch Blade Knives
These are kind of neat!
You pull the little ball at the end of the knife and the blade springs out
The only trouble with this design is that if you sharpen the blade tip too much it will not reach the catch and the blade will not stay shut George Schrade was a clever man but this design has it`s faults.
This one has interesting advertising on both sides of the handles, they made a slew of these and there are many handles colors and advertising to be found.

Re: Pull Ball Switch Blade Knives
Awesome knife, thanks for posting Miller. I saw a couple of these sell at auction for over $100 last year but I was afraid to pull the trigger. Good to know about the blade catch too.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I had the same question about the teeny, tiny "VINTAGE EAGLE PENCIL CO KNIFE" Gravity Knife I snagged off Ebay for KillJoy. The bitty blade would snap clean off at a manicure, let alone a murder.
Pull-Ball knives have me very intrigued as a beginner knife crafter. The simple, simple clasp mech inherently prevents peek ( OK, except when the tip is diminished by wear, use, or damage), so making one up shouldn't be real complicated. I've found George's old Patent drawings of the clasp and liner details, but haven't started a CAD drawing yet. I do have an entire Italian Milano digitized, however, so the task is essentially making the aforementioned clasp and customized liners for one, and leaving off the button parts.
The lure of the project? A very, very slim switchblade (that takes a minimum of two hands to open, officer).
If the idea works, I have four identical 11" Italian Pearlex manuals to play with...to make Pull-Ball Conversions from.

Re: Pull Ball Switch Blade Knives
Somewhere I have a large box of those little balls in different colors. Why couldn't it be a large box of those little knives?

Re: Pull Ball Switch Blade Knives
Here's one that is a bit unusual:Stamped "JC&N Co. patent 11-9-37" with file teeth cut into the top edge of the blade. The company was Jewelry Cutlery & Novelty and apparently made custom pieces from skeleton knives. This one was acid tested by some idiot prior to me acquiring it to see if it was gold(it wasn't).This really P**ses me off as I have seen more great little watch fob knives ruined by doing this by people whose only interest is scrap gold.

IM and Ozzie Marie, Those are sweet little Rems. I have been watching those R17 knives on various sites for some time and it is amazing to see the collector demand and high value they bring on the market!
