I know i'm probably gonna sound kinda dumb here, but is a gravity knife an OTF without a spring?

Yes, that is one way of describing it, not all gravity knives come out the front, a butterfly knife is a gravity knife and the blade comes out from the side ::nod::

Ok, thanks MB. I kinda figured that's how they worked. Never really thought of a Butterfly as being a gravity knife, guess technically it would be though, huh? I'm curious though, I can pretty much tell how the blade stay's in the open position on the OTF version, but what holds it in the closed position?
