Beautiful knife. I have been put off of the stag handled versions of the Phoenix because how thick and chunky the stag is. Your knife doesn't look that way based on the apparent lack of hafting on the mark side handle. Would you know if there are there thin stag examples of the Phoenix?
Re: Tuna Valley still alive!
All that I have seen are pretty thick. If you have a preferred dealer who carries these, you could call and ask them if they have a thinner version. Some of the dealers take a shot of them from the end, so you can see the handle slab thickness.RalphAlsip wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 12:53 am Beautiful knife. Mine is 3/8 inch thick on 1 side, and 1/4 inch thick on the other. On my Damascus version, both handles are about 1/4 inch thick.

I just pulled the trigger on one of these, in 154-CM. Hoping the one I chose isn't too fat. I think the 3 5/8" length is spot on for a decent knife size, no buyer's remorse please!
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Just noticed this in the #5 spot, is it supposed to be Catalina Wine Mixer? If so I guess Ryan is a Step Brothers fan too.

Re: Tuna Valley still alive!
Mine arrived today, pretty impressed with the fit and finish. Perfect centering and I'm really pleased with the stag I chose. Nice size and weight, half stop and excellent snap. I think I'll keep it.

I also got mine in the mail today. Curiously, it wasn't the one that I had selected, so, initially I was a bit disappointed because the stag handle was totally different from what the seller showed in his photos. But, after carefully examining it, I decided that I like it well enough to keep anyway, even though I still liked the one I chose more.
Much like Jerry (Ralph Alsip), I was concerned about the thickness of the stag handle; I didn't want a super fat one. The handle on the one I got is not as fat as some of the others that I've seen, so I am happy about that.
This is my first Tuna Valley knife and I am very impressed. It looks and feels just like a high quality custom handmade knife and is a joy to look at and handle. Everything is spot on: fit and finish, walk and talk, centering, etc. Definitely a great knife for the money and well worth the price.
I can't wait to see the Phoenix Jack with Mammoth Ivory handle. I just hope I get the opportunity to buy one before they're all snapped up.

Very attractive knife Q, great score!
Re: Tuna Valley still alive!
Very nice, Q! As you said...some of them had very fat and some non-symmetrical stag. In my opinion, you got one of nicest ones I've seen!

Redrider and QT, those both look amazing. I would be happy with either one of those!
The green maple burl with Damascus are heading towards dealers this week, so you should see photos of them soon on dealer sites, or on the Daniels Facebook page or webpage.
End of this month the amber stag with Damascus should also be released.

Here's how the Tuna Valley compares to a Case TB62117 Swayback Jack.
