New & Improved Knife Directory

Post by Bryan »

I've been working on this the last couple days...
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/directory/

In the past, our links & directory pages have left much to be desired IMO.

I think this new set-up will be much better. The programming enables any of us members to contribute.

Moderators can edit & delete any spam / errors.

It still needs a ton of links added to be useful. I mostly just transferred over some from our other stuff as I've been concentrating on the programming, etc... I'll be adding links as I get time.

Please consider adding any / all knife related links you can think of as well & contact me if you have questions, suggestions, or run across any bugs.

Hope some will enjoy this ::groove::

Stay tuned for additional announcements in the near future :D

I have a bunch more new / improved stuff in the works. I plan to spend a lot more time working on the AAPK site in 2012 ::groove::

Yes indeed! I like it! Once the gaps are filled-in, it will be a handy spot to find everything (that we care about  ).

Hey... If anyone can think of additional categories we need, let me know. Also, let me know if you think some of the current categories might need consolidated, separated, or re-worded. I kind of added those in haste & I'm certain it could be improved...

We currently have...

Custom Knife Makers
Knife Auctions
Knife Blogs
Knife Clubs, Groups and Organizations
Knife Discussion Boards
Knife Manufacturers
Knife Publications
Knife Related Facebook Pages
Knife Related Informative Resource Links
Knife Repair & Customization Services
Knife Retailers
Knife Show & Event Promoters
Other Knife Directories
Other Knife Related Links
Other Non-Knife Related Links

Might need to put the Knife Blogs, Knife Publications, & Knife Show & Event Promoters into the "Other Knife Related Links" for starters to get a more concise category structure...

Custom Knife Makers
Knife Auctions
Knife Clubs, Groups and Organizations
Knife Directories
Knife Discussion Boards
Knife Manufacturers
Knife Related Facebook Pages
Knife Related Informative Resource Links
Knife Repair & Customization Services
Knife Retailers
Other Knife Related Links
Other Non-Knife Related Links

I'd be very grateful to anyone who might want to add some input on the category list... How do you think it should look? ::shrug::

Thanks, Tank ::tu::

but... I hate to have to tell ya that I already screwed up & accidentally deleted one of your additions. I saw that it got double posted & I thought I'd be helpful & remove one. The programming seeks out & destroys via URL when asked to remove a link. Apparently, every instance of the URL ::mdm::

I'll have to get that fixed tomorrow. ::dang::

Personally, I think repair and customization are a bit too far apart to be listed together. Repair and restoration might be a better fit. I do a ton of repairs, but the real satisfaction comes from being able to finish one and every part is genuine and authentic to the time period of it's manufacture. Not that I haven't embellished a few from time to time, in fact, maybe customization and embellishment could be it's own catagory and repair and restoration another. Whatcha think?
