Replacement sheath for L66

In 1911, H. N. Platts, was able to draw on his extensive friendships and family connections in the cutlery world to start Western States Cutlery and Manufacturing of Boulder Colorado. At first only a jobbing business, by 1920 construction and machinery purchases were underway to begin manufacture of knives. Through name changes--to Western States Cutlery Co. in 1953, then Western Cutlery Co. in 1956--and moves first across town and later to Longmont Colorado, the company stayed under the leadership of the Platt family until 1984. In that year, the company was sold to Coleman, becoming Coleman-Western. Eventually purchased by Camillus in 1991, Western continued until Camillus expired in 2007.

sorry but may have to duplicate an original. I was told with many used knives the sheaths are a marriage.

I know, just a shot in the dark. Just looking for a useable sheath, not an original. Such a common knife, was hoping somebody had a source, other than full blown custom.

Thanks Ed

thanks, looked at the Amazon site. At the bottom it shows many generic sheaths. Probably lot's of difference in thickness and quality. I re-sewed a sheath last week. Should be a market for exact repros of old ones with all the stamping's or names.

The only one I considered was from TripleK. They make holsters and gun belts and similar leather goods. They are a well respected maker. I'll post pictures and review it when it arrives.

Here is the TripleK leather sheath, model 138-4. It's very high quality, heavy and sturdy. Made in USA. The L66 measured 4.25". So I ordered the 5" sheath. It was way to long, in fact it fits the USN MKI DECK KNIFE that I have. So I kept it and ordered a 4" sheath for the Western L66 it is a perfect fit.
