Brown Burlap “Tater Skin”

I just received the small work knife (aka small sodbuster) in brown burlap. It’s being called a “tater skin.” My first impression is that it looks even better than the website photo. At 3.4” it’s a drop smaller than I anticipated but that’s ok. Quality wise it’s an “A.” Very sharp centered blade with about a 6 pull that locks up tight with the linerlock. I still feel that’s unneeded but I can live with it. There are absolutely no gaps and the transitions are smooth. Best Rough Ryder yet. Click on the photo for a better look.

Very nice knife. Was it made in U.S.A. or China?

No. It was the look and size of the pattern that got me.

These are a nice little knife, I worked on one in yellow synthetic for a friend , he wanted the lock removed as locks are not legal carry in the uk unless camping etc , shame they dont do these with no lock
love it in burlap micarta

I don’t understand the reasoning behind the decision to use a linerlock on a small knife such as this. It has a nice pull with a good closing snap. The lock is overkill.

I am curious as to how the size of the lock compares to the big one. The big ones have locks that work great, even with my insulated gloves on. I'm wonder how much they scaled it down by.

I don’t have the larger ones but the tab on the lock feels like it can be unlocked with gloves. However, I doubt you could open it with gloves on.

Very nice looking knife.
I have some Brown Burlap Buck knives. My only complaint is the weight. They are noticeably heavy. I think the material is so course there is a lot of resin seeped in.
Another observation they get sort of fuzzy feeling with use. Again the material is coarse and the burlap fibers sort of break loose.
Linen Micarta and Burlap Micarta are certainly very different. Lol.
The Burlap on your RR looks finer than what is on my Bucks
