I ended up with that knife in trade but it was a bit more NEON and had contrasting YELLOW on it advertising some Pro shop with a fishy beginning to their name ::hmm:: I was actually impressed with it being a frost and all. Big contract so he had to hire the high dollar Chinese craftsman. I've never handled a Rough Rider Doctors Knife but the Frost seemed like how I would imagine one to be ::woot:: . Did that make any sense? I never could understand that pattern as a sports and outdoors knife but hey, what do I know? Now if it had a scalpel I could understand but the secondary blade was a scaler with hook remover ::shrug::

I am hearing more and more that Frost and their other brand knives have gotten to be much better quality.. Like the Steel Warriors are spose to be very nice fit and finish and very sharp blades.. Heard the Steel Warriors have german stainless.. Don't know what that mean (I'm not a knife expert..lol)

And they seem to have a lot of nice patterns which are quite tempting. I guess I got to try one of those soon.... ::hmm::

Yes. Case started making quite a few Doc's as single blades in the very late 1990s or very early 2000s. That's when I quit buying Case Docs.

As for Frost? Blessed be those who like them.

I hear ya Cutty. Although I have had a handful I got at SMKW in a lot sale but that was a long time ago and during the genesis of my knife collecting.

Here's a Frost Hunter Trapper I gave to one of my buddies. I think it was made in the "C" country. The ones made in Japan and the ones made in that "C" country look alike to me.

Dogg, I haven't seen anything about Frost Cutlery being owned by Smith & Wesson, but you may know something I don't. ::shrug:: Smith & Wesson Holding Company recently bought Taylor Brands, which per their website owns Schrade, Schrade Walden, Old Timer, Uncle Henry, Imperial, Western, Ulster, New York Knife, and numerous other old cutlery brands. Most if not all currently being made in China. ::barf:: Except for a couple of brands made in Germany I think most of Frost's stuff is also made in China. ::barf:: ::barf::
