Two Kabar FBs

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Nice pick ups, I really like that second one, Does either one of them have a number stamped into the guard?

Nothing on the top one.

That would be the Kabar Model number 4 for leather handle, 71 model and a 4 inch blade. If my notes from gunsils posts are correct that should be a "Pathfinder".

Your top knife looks a lot like the one I posted up yesterday with a somewhat different handle. The blade looks the same except yours looks fuller than mine. Gunsil identifies mine as a TRADER model. I also have a Kamper model that has a similar blade but a bakelite handle.

Union Cutlery Co started using Kabar on the reverse side tang on their knives in 1923 is what I've read and heard. The 15th edition of Collector Knives says those stamps run from 1923 to 1951. Further, the same reference says if the stamp includes "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." it could be 1925 to 1930.
