Thrashed 1097 hopeless?

I found this thrashed Kabar 1097 in my father's shop after he passed away. Not familiar with Kabar folding pocket knives so have no idea of the age of this knife. Is it salvageable and if so is it reasonable to do so? What would you do if it was yours?

What do you mean by "thrashed"? Do the blades snap into their open and closed positions? I have an Imperial jack from the late 1960s that I found in my father's desk after he died. If I were to sell it, it *might* bring $10. I'll never sell it. Every once in a while, I pick it up, remember, and then smile. That's priceless to me.

Well yes the blades do still all have good snap and no wobble..handles are broken off on one end with pins exposed..will most likely leave it as is as well .but probably won't use /carry it. Don't think this was actually my father's .it was found in the house they moved into a few years back .he didn't use it either ..

This is just me, but I'd send it to one of our wonderful knife mechanics to have it restored to original condition (or as close as possible) then I'd put it away as a tribute to Dad.

I got my grandpa's 1920 -1924 Remington jack knife and my dad's 1940 -1964 Case xx barlow , I keep them cleaned and oiled and just look at them ever so often . Then I think of all the times I cut my fingers with my dad's barlow.

What a treasure, to have something from your dad’s shop. Whether he used it or not, he thought enough of it to have it among his personal things.
