I used to collect Bulldogs but looked for the earlier ones. This 1995 Toenail with top notch stag shows that not all of the best Bulldogs are the older ones.
I thought it might have been more recent & GEC made. But the stag does look like the stag that comes from Germany. Their source must be different than the stag sold in North America ?

kj, I too was anticipating that in terms of quality the older generation BDs would be the best. But my admittedly limited experience shows me that I can find excellent and even superior quality at both ends of the spectrum; or to put it more aptly, throughout all the generations.
As I see it, while there are a few pieces that carry Sambar Stag covers, the great majority are European Red Stag. These deer average around 400 lbs with correspondingly heavy antlers.
