Bulldog 3-7/8" Round Bolster Stockman

Post by zeke8 »

Hi to all. I would like to thank everyone for their interest in my knives. I hope the information is helpful.
This group of knives has 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen, and a couple of unlisted knives.
BKC #'s:
1. 141 stag 5 of 300 S&D etch regular issue
2. 142 stag 3 of 312 Pit Bulls Trademark etch regular issue
3. 142-A 2nd gen "Vault Knife" unclear on the quantity of this knife
4. 143 green pearl 1 of 304 regular issue
5. 144 butter & molasses 1 of 304 regular issue
6. 146 blue strip 1 of 120 regular issue
7. 147 stag 5 of 12 crest shield Pit Bulls Trademark etch
8. 148 slick black 1 of 300 Coal Miner regular issue
9. Unlisted green pearl 2 blade 1 of ?
10. Unlisted slick black 2 blade 2 of ?
11. 954 stag 1993 tang stamp high carbon blades
12. 955 green bone 1993 tang stamp high carbon blades
13. 959 stag "surgical instrument" stainless blades
14. 960 green bone "surgical instrument" stainless blades
15. 965 pearl 1 of 36 "surgical instrument" stainless blades
16. Unlisted green bone 1 blade 1993 tang stamp 1 of 7
17. Unlisted prototype green bone 1995 tang stamp
18. Unlisted prototype Allante handle oval shield 1 of 2
The last picture is of 141 (310 made) and 147 (12 made). Both have a crest shield and different etches.

Some of the noticeable differences in the 1st and 2nd gen "Vault Knives" are:
1. The blade grind of the 1st gen stops near the tang. 2nd gen "Vault Knives" stops where the tip transitions to the spine of the blade.
2. The etch on 1st gen has a squared off edge near the tang. 2nd gen has rounded indentations and squared edge.
3. The nail pull on the master blade of 1st gen has 17 notches. 2nd gen master blade has 22 notches that are thinner than that of the 1st gen.
As far as the "Vault Knives" go, I haven't been able to find any production numbers on the knives that were produced. They are fairly easy to identify. All of the "Vault Knives" have stag handles. The stag was European Stag not India Sambar. The tips of the stag near the bolsters are beveled and white. They are not 1st gen knives. Once again thank you for your interest!
