Rigid knives by Canal Street

I've been working on my small collection of Rigid brand knives made by Canal Street. So far I have gathered a congress, muskrat, gunstock jack, reverse gunstock stockman, whittler and a wildcat driller. All of them have the amber staged bone handles. Does anyone know of any other patterns that Canal Street produced with the Rigid branding ? Any other handle material ?

Phil - found this 2013 photo on BF which may help you with your confirmation.

To my (good) eye it looks like:
Your Top Right is the same as the BF Top Left
Your Middle Right is the same as the BF Middle Left
Your Bottom Right is the same as the BF Bottom Left
Your Bottom Left is the same as the BF Top Right
Your Top Left is the same as the BF Middle Right
Your Middle Left is the same as the BF Bottom Right

PS - very nice collection and display!

Thank you Tom and Tom. :)

Tom Chase I'll try to help you locate a CS whittler in amber stag bone. I have one in my collection so if I can locate another one I'll grab it for you. If, however, you find one first, please let me know.

Good going on the set Phil, I have one of the complete sets which I bought through A.G. Russell, which were sold in the black pouch as per picture. All of the knives are very slightly different than the CSC offerings of the same pattern.

Russell,

If I'm not mistaken, that photo bestgear posted above is one of your set taken from a Blade Forums post. That same picture and BF thread came up when I did a google search.

Yes that's right Phil. The set was originally posted on A.G. Russell's site "Cutting Edge". A set I could not resist seeing that they were from the CSC stable.

Russell.

I can certainly understand the allure, however my sad pocketbook dictated that I acquire mine one at a time.........slowly. ::doh::

I finally bit the bullet and bought a collection of these Rigid knives by Canal Street. Honestly, these are now the pride of my collection. I have never seen a group of knives that captures my attention like these do. Simply gorgeous.
I now have an extra Sunfish if anyone needs one to finish out a collection. I bought the sunfish from the person I bought the collection from. He sent me a note with the knife and told me that he had an entire matching serial number set if I was interested and of course I was.

Thank you Phil. I appreciated your help on this. This has also put me on the look out for more amber stag bone knives. I have seen a few others out there that are not Canal Street that I think I would like almost as much and am thinking about collecting amber stag and amber bone stag knives as well.
I think a collection of those would be beautiful. This amber bone stag is just over the top for me, I have never seen any handle material I like as much as this.

As a plumber I thought the same thing. But the tool brand is spelled differently with a ā€œDā€. RIDGID The Ridge tool company.

Anyone know who theses knives were made for?

The original "Rigid" knives were made by 2 guys somewhere in U.S.A. Within a couple of years they were having their very distinctive patterns made in Japan. That was in 1980's ? i think. The original 2 guys eventually sold the rights to the "Rigid" brand name and it might have sold a few times since then.
