Latest Canal Street Additions
Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
Eric, Thanks, it's a handful at 11-3/4" overall. It also came with a black fitted sheath embossed the same as the tang stamp. I found one that is in stock and currently for sale at American Edge. https://www.americanedgeknives.com/cana ... fe-ct1873/

Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
Thanks for posting those pic's Tom. It sure is a well made knife, but then I haven't found a Canal Street that isn't. Tony was saying that there was one like yours on Ebay just the other day, wish he had told me before the auction ended. I just might have to modify that display and turn it into a wall hanger...I've run out of room to set things. Guess it's a good thing I've decided to sell off a few knives.
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments, they are much appreciated.

Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
Well today I received my my third vintage CSC folding pocket knife... officially designating me as a Canal Street Cutlery collector...
(I'm not counting the recently acquired Co-op pinchback I received a couple of months ago.)
Actually I rather fancy the pattern... a first for me... a Doctor's knife... but the real reason I went for it is because of the Amber Jig Bone handles... also a first for me...
Okay... please excuse my ignorance here... but what is the second blade used for on this pattern?

Nice acquisition KAW. The spatula blade was used for a couple of things. It was used to scoop a small amount of powdered medication and it was also used to slide pills across the surface as they were counted and put into a container.

Sweeeet knife there doglegg... I've been eyeing those Canittlers, but have yet to pick one up...

Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
Just say ittler like whittler then put a can in front of it. At least I think that's how to pronounce it.

Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
This makes the 5th Canal Street knife that I have. So far I have only bought and never sold any Canal Street knife. I have been looking at this one for a very long time and finally pulled the trigger this week and bought this one. I should have bought it sooner.
The seller says that these were made in 2007 by Canal Street from Queen parts for Rigid. Rigid was attempting to up their game and have knives made in the USA. The effort failed and there were only 100 of these made. Through some finagling these ended up being sold on Kniveslive by SMKW and sold out w/in minutes.
I hope someone here can verify this story. He has another one and I am thinking seriously about making an offer for it too.
I am really struck by how gorgeous this knife is.

Gosh SSk, Knives don't get much more beautiful than that.
Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
SSK take a look at the thread I've provided a link to below. About half way down Rusty1 posted a comment about the Rigid Knives made by Canal Street having been sold by A.G. Russell. Perhaps that info will be helpful to you.Sharpnshinyknives wrote:This makes the 5th Canal Street knife that I have. So far I have only bought and never sold any Canal Street knife. I am very confident that Canal Street made this Rigid knife and I concur they are super nice. The "from Queen parts" seems odd to me because it seems like Queen would also do the assembly if they were providing the parts.ea42 wrote:

Re: Latest Canal Street Additions
Phil and Ralph, Thank you for the information. I will try to post the information that the seller included w/ this knife when he sold it, it was quoted detailed. From the thread that you posted it sounds like this wasn’t a A.G. Russell offering like you see in the catalog, but one that someone sold through them. This seller said that he has had 4 complete sets of all these knives. You can bet I will be contacting him about more of these. I am really taken by this one and can see the value of adding more of these to my collection. I love the collection of these that you have Phil, thank you for bringing me up to speed on this.philco wrote:SSK take a look at the thread I've provided a link to below.
