Canal Street Cutlery Open House and Sale

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

Post by ea42 »

Hey Folks!! Posted this in "General" but figured I'd better post it here too  :D

We're having an open house and sale at the factory this Friday (12/12) from 8:30AM to 4:30PM and Saturday (12/13) from 8:30AM to 2:00PM. Hope some of you can make it! It's a real blast meeting members who are passionate about this hobby, the last visit by Glenn and crew was the highlight of my Summer! ::tu::

Dimitri I really gave it serious consideration but just wasn't up for 12 hours of hard driving each way.

I'm with you Phil. It's about 40 miles or so farther for me. I'm not into the pain. The days of getting behind the wheel, putting my nose in the wind and driving long distances are behind me. My behind me just won't take it anymore.

Now if I had my own airplane or motorhome with driver....... ::hmm::

I'm with Jerry, my behind me can't get behind a trip like that. The rest of me has problems with it too!
It's also a bit farther for me than it is for Jerry; according to a couple of map sites I searched; Salem Oregon to Walden New York is 2942.06 miles. Of course, that last .06 mile is the worst!

Seriously, I would love just come out there, meet Eric, tour the Canal Street factory, buy a bunch of knives and then go spend a few days hanging out with LT. When somebody wins the lottery and gives me a million bucks, that is one of the 1st trips on my list. ::nod::
