CSC 10th Anniversary Knife

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

CSC 10th Anniversary Knife

Post by Chase »

Looks like Canal Street Cutlery has done a 10th Anniversary Knife, exclusively available through A.G. Russell.

Limited to 200 knives

A Canal Street Pinch Lockback with dark Green Micarta Scales and the addition of a pocket clip. The 3 inch clip point blade is 440C stainless at 58-60 RC. The pocket clip will be stamped Canal Street Cutlery, 2004-2014, 10th Anniversary. These are limited to 200 knives with the pocket clip stamp.

Ordering mine first thing in the morning via telephone!

LOL- Jody, you kill me....

I didn't even realize that they were doing it, or believe me I would have been all over Wally like a Duck on a Junebug for the Prototype! However, AG Russell usually takes the Prototype as well....sob!

I just got off the phone with AG Russell, placing my order for the 10th Anniversary, and a KaBar Copper Bolster Pinch and Barlow....I just couldn't resist them...all CSC knives of course.

I also have one of Eric's Jacks. Love those Canal Street Knives!

I will post pictures of all three when they arrive......now the waiting game begins, just 7-10 more days......

Tom I'm confused (again). I thought Canal Street started up in 2005 not 2004. :?

Had to be later part of 2004 Phil, schrade closed their doors in July 2004. That only leaves Aug-Dec left in 2004. LOL

Actually I thought it was 2005 also, however, they say 2004.

I've got a Limited Edition set consisting of a Amber Stag Bone Whittler and Congress knife that each bear the 1st Year shield. (Thus commerating their first year of production) The engraved plate on the set reads "Limited Edition, 2005-2006". That would certainly reinforce my thinking they started out in 2005 not 2004.

Yes,

But I think it's like buying a new car...you can actually get the new model at the end of the year prior.....2015 model cars in sept 2014.

That 2005-2006 Comm set may be just that....2005. Could be the first year they did these....IF they actually were founded in 2004, it was definately the later half of 2004

I am going to dig some more....you are making my head hurt Phil....LOL

I did a search of the businesses in Ellenville, NY and they list Canal Street Cutlery Co. LLC as a Private Ownership and Founded in 2004! (Cortera Business Directory)

Sorry bout the headache ole buddy.

Perhaps the company was begun in the later months of 2004 but they didn't get up and running and actually producing knives till some time in 2005 ???? That would make everything fit a lot better (and maybe make ole Tom's head stop hurting)

Don't ya love the little mysteries that pop in knife collecting time after time? 8)

I questioned a company years ago and this was how the explained it to me.
A lot of company state the 10th year of operation as soon as it goes past the last day of the ninth year. So when it reaches the 2015 date of operation them will be in the eleventh year of operation.

I received my shipment in from A.G. Russell this afternoon.

I am somewhat disappointed, the 10th Anniversary knife isn't anything like I would have expected from Canal Street Cutlery.

This knife is nothing more than their green canvas Micarta (I think they called the Artillery) Pinch lock back with an added pocket clip. The engraving on the pocket clip can't even be read with the naked eye (at least not mine...LOL) and I needed a magnifier to read it.

Way below Par for an Anniversary knife in my opinion....I don't even think I am going to post a picture of it, I am that disappointed ::barf::

I got to see and handle that knife first hand at the factory during my visit Friday.

Wally was quite proud of it and talked to us at great length about it. I asked if the anniversary logo was stamped and he stated it was not, it was electro engraved.

I think maybe they should have made a nice shield for the anniversary knife ::nod::

That's what they did for the 1st and 5th anniversary and those turned out very nice.
