New Sheath Knife Pattern

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

New Sheath Knife Pattern

Post by ea42 »

Hey folks! Got a new fixed blade pattern coming out, I believe it's called the High Country Skinner, 8 1/2" overall with a 4 1/2" blade, D2 steel. This one's got buffalo handles:

That's a really great looking knife. Something about the blade shape makes me think of the old Schrade Sharpfinger. I predict it will be well recieved.

Except for the drooped handle, reminded me of the Western L39. Very, very nice and as for the slip joint, I'm eager to see something new out of CS.

Michael if you need someone to examine one of those new slippies and give you folks some input on it, just send me one in a brown paper wrapper. I'll keep it on the downlow.

I was able to personally hnandle that High Country Skinner at the Shot Show and it truly is a great piece. Absolutely beautiful knife. Also got a sneak preview of some new stuff on the horizon and can't wait to get my hands on some of it as well.

Canal Street is doing some great things!
