Rode Hard and Put Up Wet

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

Rode Hard and Put Up Wet

OK, maybe not that bad, but this guy has been in my pocket an awful lot since 2005 or so and has served me well. It's not afraid to get down and dirty, even helped cutler some of its brethren! Figured I'd show you how the shield patinas up over time:

Nothing like seeing a master cutler's EDC choice! Sweet Canal Street. Very nice. ::tu:: 8) ::tu::

Looks like a keeper to me, and still in great shape.

I love how the stag has been treated. Much knicer than some well-known companies are doing right now. Nothing wrong with a gunstock jack with oblique caps, either. If I was to be entrusted with this knife I would take much better care of it. ::drool:: 8) :)

Thanks guys!

Cal, that's actually stag jigged bone, not genuine stag. It's amazing how realistic it is.

That's a beauty (to me eyes), and just getting broken in. The carved stag bone has held up well, and still has a nice warm color to it. The shield has some great patina too. Unfortunately, I don't carry any knife frequently enough to get that good patina and wear on them, my EDC pile is too big.

That's a beauty though, does it ride in the pocket, or in a sheath?

Always in the pocket Glenn, amongst whatever else is jangling around in there.

Great knife E. I can attest to seeing you use that in the shop. I remember cringing lol. I only have one and don’t have that guts to take it out in the sunlight. They are a great pattern. My opinion these canal streets are among the finest knives made.
