Lee (Longblade)

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Lee (Longblade)

Post by glennbad »

Lee is okay, but he broke his ankle this week, and is out of action for awhile. He mentioned he may not be around the forum for a bit, so if you don't see him posting, that is probably why.

So, please send up some positive thoughts and prayers Lee's way for a quick recovery!

He is going to the doctor for further evaluation today. Praying it is a simple fracture and will heal quickly.

Thanks to all for your prayers ::handshake::

I am having surgery Monday - a screw and plate to stabilize the break which is not displaced meaning broken ends are pointing at each other (mostly) but inside ankle bone is displaced as well... 3 month recovery time with lots of physical therapy after 3-4 weeks.... no doubt I’m abit depressed - last few years I’ve had my share of problems (my Dad has Alzheimer’s and mother not well among other things) and just when I thought the light was shining through the clouds abit now this set back....

Thanks again my friends ::handshake::

Prayers for a speedy recovery, Lee. ::pray::

I've got a few screws holding my ol' bones together, too. Six months after the surgery, my doctor told me I had a "screw loose". They tightened up one in my ankle, but to this day, I'm still not sure if that's the one he was talkin' about. ::undecided::

Get better soon,

Thanks again my friends for the prayers and well wishes ::tu::

Surgery went fine yesterday - glad that part is over - I did need 5 screws and a plate to stabilize the bone - guess I did a pretty good job snapping it - probably looked like a bad piece of stag when surgeon saw it :roll: ... now resting relatively comfortably but the nerve block from my knee to ankle wore off today so the pain level has increased but pain is being kept under control by pain meds for the next few days... Thank goodness my wife is a real "gem" - I am unable to leave the bed much except for a few very short times a day to prevent clotting and am totally dependent on her help for all... As I am not one to sit still very long and truly dislike being dependent on help I am learning how to take deep breaths and mediate & stay distracted - lots of reading, abit of TV, and thinking about some new writing projects as well - even will attempt to tie some fishing flies if I can explain to my wife what I need from my studio ::nod:: ... The best part is my wife rented a hospital bed which she had put next to our large bedroom window looking out into the forest and the TV in view for another distraction- and the bed is fully adjustable electronically from head to toe :) ... Its going to be a 3 month haul of rest and rehab through physical therapy which starts about one month out - no weight bearing at all for one month on the leg... I'll keep you all updated... thanks again and it is really nice to have the AAPK family here :D ...

Godspeed Lee. Having a "gem" at home will make the recovery bearable - just remember to properly thank her. I could use some size 10 BWO's for opening day in April if your looking for projects at the vice. Sending much love and prayers your way for total healing.

Glad to hear everything went well, Lee! Be nice to your gal, she sounds like a keeper. ::tu::

Sounds like you have some ideas to keep yourself busy. I know, it's frustrating having to sit/lay there and not do anything.

Stay positive, bud!
