Prayer for my Daughter-in-Law.

My Son was deployed again this past week along with my Grandson. My Daughter-in-Law has faced this several times before and once before when both her husband and son went off together, but this time it has really hit her hard. It's not a long relatively speaking deployment (months, not a year) but this one has really hit her hard. She is also dealing with her Mom who just got out of the hospital and still has some serious issues. Her Mom was hospitalized for nearly a month. I'm struggling a little with my son's deployment myself because my son and I work together as carpenters, and at 70 years old I've grown to depend on him more each year and I really miss working every day with him. I have several buildings to put up this summer and it just hasn't worked out to find someone to replace him for the summer. I'll be fine, but it's hard to see my kids struggle and there is little beyond prayer to do to help. We want so badly to tell God how we want Him to handle our prayer requests and His ways are so far above ours, that it's hard to see Him leading us on the road ahead sometimes and it gets scary to walk it. Thank you for your prayers. ___Dave

“True prayer supplies God with work...God has not to be coerced, persuaded against His will to aid His children. He is more anxious to help than we are to ask.”
Ivor Powell

Will you post their first names, so we can better pray?
Or, just post their initials.

Thanks.

Prayers for those deployed and those left at home. Was their deployment far away or down here to the border?

Dave, I pray for your son and grandson as well as your daughter-in-law - may God be with them. Having relatives in the military, I know deployment is often more difficult for family members than for those deployed, and all serve in their own way. May God's everlasting Grace comfort your family.

That's tough to feel helpless in a situation like this. While I was never deployed overseas, I was TDY a lot my first year of marriage, and my wife had a hard time with it.

I will pray for the safety of your son, and for God to watch over your daughter-in-law and put her mind at ease.

Thanks guys. I went TDY back in my Air Force days about every other month but they were one to two weeks trips and never outside the country. I might have stayed in the military if it wasn't for the travel and being away from my kids so much when they were growing up. Thank God for people who are willing and able to do some of these jobs that our country depends on. ____Dave

Another development with my son and his family; my daughter-in-law had a heart attack last night and the Dr's put two stints in to correct an 80% blockage. She will likely be in the hospital only for a short time because they caught it so fast. She is really carrying a load with her husband and son both deployed and her Mom still sick and on dialysis with kidney failure. My daughter-in-law Melody, is an only child and her Mom isn't married so everything with her Mom falls on her. Us old people are suppose to be getting heart attacks, not our kids. I'll be really glad when this summer is over and my kids are back home. Thanks again for your prayers. ____Dave

Oh boy, that is really tough, she is not getting any breaks. I'm glad they caught it fast. Really sad though...

Prayers to all of you Dave...your daughter in law may be able to cope
a bit better now that her serious problem is fixed...I got 6 stints and
when they did 4 of them, it was a big health and general well being boost
like I could not believe...my best to all your family bud

I was gone most of this week visiting my mother and father. Sorry I missed this, AAPK just doesn’t look the same on a cell phone and I miss stuff all the time.
I will be praying for Melody, her mom and your whole family. Something this huge kind of affects every!
I will be prayers for healing, prayers for safety and prayers for quick and safe returns home.

Thanks guys. Jane and I both went to the hospital yesterday morning. Melody was up sitting and in good spirits. If all goes well through this morning she may be going home today. It was a classic heart attack with chest pains and then radiating down her arm. The Dr said the heart vessel was more like 90 to 95% restricted. Prayers and quick decisive action by my Grand-daughter saved her life. This really shook up my son and grandson being so far away and not sure what all was happening. ___Dave

Melody is home and resting fairly comfortably. The furnace won't start so they are on a back-up heat source and a friend is going over to see if he can start it. I know almost nothing about oil furnaces and very little about gas ones. Mine wouldn't start last week and I pocked at things until it started. It appears everything is quiet on the home front, for now. ___Dave

Dave, is there any chance for a compassionate reassignment?

They are checking into it. The heart attack was actually worse and more dangerous than it first appeared. The restriction was actually around 99%. Our younger Grand-daughter is too young to have helped much and their older daughter just happened to be nearby and had the smarts to take charge and push her Mom off to the hospital when Melody wanted to wait a little because the pain was backing off a little. We are a half hour away. Mel really needs an adult around to help her with her Mom's medical issues(she is in an assisted living across town) and now with her own health uncertain for a while, and Cassidy is only 13 and tends to fall apart a little in a stressful situation. I'm sure we'll handle it all somehow, but it sure would be easier with my son home.____Dave

I should have updated this a couple days ago. Jason is home to take care of Melody. The Red Cross didn't give him an option and contacted his commander and told him Jason was needed at home. He is going to start working with me as soon as Melody can be left alone during the day. She is recovering but is really tired and isn't suppose to do much of anything except short walks for 5 or 6 weeks. Jane still has a little pain and soreness from her heart surgery but is getting better everyday and getting a little more energy each day. Her full recovery will take about a year. My sister Gayle changed doctors and they are trying to find a cemo that she can take without life threatening side effects. My other sister Carol, that had the double knee replacement is still not able to walk on the two new knees without something to help support them but is gaining ground. It's just taking a lot longer than it was suppose to. Looks like we are all mostly on the mend. Your prayers were heard. Thank you. ___Dave

Melody is back in the hospital. She had her first appt. with the heart doctor today and he admitted her for tests tomorrow morning. Melody is short of breath and really tired. They are going up a vein in her arm and that procedure is very painful and it appears the stints aren't doing all they should. She is determined to get out for their daughters conformation on Sunday and the conformation party was suppose to be on Saturday. That probably won't happen even with Jane and I helping. Looks like more prayer is needed. Thanks again. ___Dave
