In need of a few prayers, please.

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

In need of a few prayers, please.

Post by Stringplucker »

I have a number of things that I sure need prayers about.

1) I'm a disabled and am on a set monthly income. My youngest will graduate in June, which makes me proud. However, I will lose nearly a grand per month between SS and child support. Things are going to be tight very soon. My brain is on overdrive, working on ways to generate an additional income. I need some prayers on this.

2) I go in for shoulder replacement on the 19th, which is going to wipe out our savings account...which is why my brain is on overdrive.

3) Due to my disability, I need my wife at home with me, but at the same time, we need her to be employed to make up for the lost income from my youngest graduating. An option has to come that will fill both needs, but options are few to none that fill those needs.

I don't generally share information like this online, but this seems like a good Christian group of folks, and I really could use the prayers.

Thank you.

Prayers for you. I understand some of what you're going through. My wife has MS and it's all hands on deck to take care of things. You're in my prayers.

Jon, when we run out of options, we need to just give it to God and wait for Him to show you some pretty amazing things. I'll join you in asking Him to show you how great and faithful He is to his promise. ___Dave

Praying the Lord will comfort, and give you strength to overcome these trials. Continue praying.

Have a bit of an update. I went breezed through all my pre-op testing last week, and had a final pre-op visit with my PCP for clearance. After 3 years of not smoking, I thought I saw the end of my asthma issues. Not so...It seems that my asthma decided to kick in at the worst of time along with bronchitis, and it's pretty rough. Doc put me on 4X a day albuterol nebulizer breathing treatments, a heavy dose of Prednisone, a shot of antibiotics along with Amoxicillin, and told me that he wants to see me again on Monday. If my breathing is not cleared up by then, he wont clear me for surgery.

I quit smoking just over 3 years ago by vaping, and haven't had an asthma attack since, and this flares up at the worst possible time. I'm praying that this clears up so I can have this surgery.

Sorry to hear of your lingering health issues.

I got into a bout of pneumonia last November, and my respiratory issues lasted all the way into April. I am finally feeling somewhat "normal", although it has been a long grind to get here.

I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Going to the doc in about an hour to find out if my lungs cleared up enough. I'm praying that they did, and that he clears me for this surgery on Friday.

Surgery went well. They removed the bursa and bone spurs, as well as a portion of bone that caused impingement. While in there, they found a minor tear in the rotator cuff, along with two other tendon tears that they repaired. My arm is in an immobilizer sling, and I'm trying to wean myself off the opioid pain meds and to something less problematic. I'm lucky that I have a wife willing to assist me with mundane tasks.

I appreciate everyone's prayers.

I'm glad things are going better for you. Those pain meds can be a problem for people who are easily addictive. I for one am not. I hope you aren't either. Looks like you are in for plenty of down time. Maybe a few good books to keep you occupied.

Good news Jon. I've been praying for you for both your medical and financial issues and will continue until the storm passes. The only time I ever needed prescription pain meds. I couldn't keep them down long enough to get relief or addicted. At least mild over the counter stuff works pretty well for me and I don't take them unless grinning and bearing don't work. Take care and do all the recovery things well so you beat this thing. ___Dave

I've never been the type to get addicted to pain meds or alcohol...I drank in my younger years prior to becoming a father, rather heavily and frequently, and walked away from it without a single craving. I've had some pretty strong and addictive pain meds in the past and was able to quit just as easily. My weaning myself from them has to do with OIC, which is no fun
