could use a few prayers

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Thanks guys. We got him settled into his hospice room. It is large, with plenty of comfy chairs. Certainly more comfortable than the hospital room.

No change in my dad's situation, but I was part of a really nice ceremony today. The local hospice community has been working with the VA for the last few years on a program to honor veterans in hospices. They come in and have a ceremony with a pin and a certificate to recognize the patient for their military service. As a USAF veteran, like him, they asked me to speak and present the pin to my father. My 2 sisters are Army veterans, and my brother and brother-in-law are also USAF veterans. One of the nurses was a Navy veteran also, so she joined us also.

It was a huge honor for me to do it, I managed to hold it together till the end.

Hey guys, my dad passed last night. He was unresponsive all day, then went peacefully in his sleep, Don't think he felt a thing. We should all be so lucky.

Thanks so much for all the prayers and thoughts, they have helped us through this difficult time.

I pray that's the way I go some day - surrounded by family, pass in my sleep.
I know you'll miss him, buddy. I'm glad you got to experience what you did while he was in hospice.
Just a few more moments to add to your bank of memories.

Glenn,
That's a great picture of your dad and you. Praying you and all those involved will have peace about his passing. The next days may be difficult but you can hold your heads high because you did all that could be done to keep him comfortable. The account of the VA ceremony was very special.
God bless you and your family.

We had a short, but nice service today at the veterans cemetery in our state, where my father will be buried. The USAF honor flag detail was on hand. It is a sad, but very stirring detail. I have been privileged to see 2 of these performed, it never fails to get to me.

I was also carrying one of my dad's favorite knives today. This was the 760 that had started gassing out, so I had modded it for him.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. They helped to get through a difficult time.
