Remington Prospector Baby Bullet made by GEC

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington Prospector Baby Bullet made by GEC

Post by QTCut5 »

I'm probably the last one to "discover" this, but I just saw this GEC made Remington 'Prospector' on KSF and I thought I'd post it on AAPK for all to see. I'm not sure if this should rightly go here in the Remington forum or the GEC forum...so I will post in both. (Although I suspect that once the GEC fanatics find out, it will sell out in seconds...if it hasn't already sold out by the time I finish this post!)

We are all just prisoners here of our own device.
In the master's chamber they gather for the feast.
They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast.

Those have been out and available from SMKW for several weeks. I have one - a gift from my oldest son, and it is a beautiful, well made knife - as near flawless as any production knife you'll find IMHO. Here's an older thread about them viewtopic.php?f=67&t=72083

I too am surprised there are still some available but my understanding is they made 500 of them. Maybe too many to excite the GEC "flippers"? ::shrug::

I saw some on eBay trying to flip them for a $100 profit, Ken. Probably hoping the usual GECers would be shocked they were available and just plop down the money. 🤑
