Remington knives with an etch

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington knives with an etch

Post by espn77 »

We have gathered up a pretty great group of guys with some great knives here in the Remington forum and I thought it would be fun to get all the best of the best in one thread. I'd ask that you give the pattern number so when people do a search for a certain knife it's easy to find. This should be pretty fun.

It is a treat to be able to see pictures of these old Remingtons with preserved blade etches. The etching on this group of 5 is faint. Often a blade will have an etch that can be seen only when the knife is held a certain way (see R7833 below).

Keith, My pictures have just the blade with etch open. Let me know if you would rather see all blades open. I know you don't like angle photos :) ::poke:: but a slight angle does seem to make the etch more visible.

That R1123 in the front is a looker. ::tu::

Jerry. I would like to see that R4033 opened. That's a hard blade configuration to find with the long spey ::tu::

Remington R4033 with blades open. Too bad it wasn't better cared for. The small pen blade has a half-stop.

John The five blade sow belly really puts this post over the top. I have seen a couple of these, but never one like yours.
