Remington Tang Stamp chart?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington Tang Stamp chart?

Post by americanedgetech »

I can't seem to locate a complete tang stamp list for Remington. I have found the older "circle" stamps but I am looking for the newer "script" type or line type.
I have a couple newer Rems but I don't know how new or who built them (ie: Camillus).

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks :)

The chart you posted the other day is the only published chart I've ever seen.

Ken those old tang stamps of Remington are all You will see. They sold out to DuPont in the depression then DuPont sold out to Pal in the early 40's. All the later Remington are reproductions made on contract by Camillus, Bear and Sons and others.

Also some knives that were authorized in the 60's, 70's. Majority of those were German made but not all. 1982 is when Camillas started making them for Remington

Hmmm.
There are variations in the line type stamps. Can these not be identified by the maker, and era?
I can recall at least four different line stamps that I have seen.

No wonder people like brands like Case! Look it up, and done.

No matter WHAT I get into as a pass time I always wind up in the most difficult genre to deal with.
For race bikes I built Maco, Triumph, and Husquavarna
Cars I chose Trams Am's (400 small block)
Guns were Finlandia National
For fun I choose chemistry, and to make my own fuel ethanol I deceided to build a concentric fuel column. Look that one up...

Will this madness ever end!!! ::dang::

Just saw your post ESPN,
Do you have a copy of that Tang or is it somewhere I can find it?
I just bought a Remington Swell end that I believe is on the cusp of the dates you just posted (70-82) but I'm not sure.

The Camillas stamp was rem umc in a circle with made in USA on the out side. Good knives. Not junk. But they made a ton of them. So value is low.
