Remington knife identification - 1935-1940?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington knife identification - 1935-1940?

Post by Zonk54 »

I recently ran across a Remington knife that I have been unable to identify. At the base of the main blade, it has a circle with the word Remington in it. I have been able to determine that the knife was made sometime between 1935 & 1940 based on this marking. It is brass and has two blades. The very skinny blade feels like a saw blade. Other than that, I am stumped. I have attached several pictures of the knife with hopes of some assistance identifying this knife.

Thank you in advance.

Looks like a R7089 to me. 2 3/8 closed. With a spear and a manicure blade. Gold plated handles. Nice little knife.

Not a whole lot. Looks like the spear blade is a little rough.
