Remington stuff (except knives)

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington stuff (except knives)

Post by espn77 »

Remington made so many things or had other companies make stuff for them and put there name on it. As long as it isn't a pocket knife or a sheath knife and has the word "Remington" on it, I'd love to see what you got.

Espn77, do you also collect remington guns? They made some outstanding guns such as the mod 550. Which is considered by some to be the mac daddy of 22 rimfire rifles. Unfortunately I dont own any Remington firearms.

I do shoot it. I have black birds in my juniper trees that run my other birds off. For having open sights. It's dead on. Never sighted it in.

Yours looks to be in great shape. I am also fond of the 1100 shotguns. I did some dove hunting with a 16 ga when I was young. I haven't shot any others that I liked better

This one is the only one like this I've seen. It is also a Dupont era display.

I really like knife displays. How long have you had them? The knives look unused as well. I have never seen a Remington switch blade. Keith you are fortunate to own such nice displays. Thanks for posting

Thanks Monte. I have been extremely blessed to have come across some guys that have extremely good knives that are willing to part with them.
This next display is one of the first cases they came out with.

Those Remington Cutlery thermometers are pretty cool. I've got a couple of originals and a reproduction.
Also have a lighted Remington Cutlery advertising sign similar to ESPN77's avatar.
Various display cases, knife rolls, wooden scout display boxes, felt counter mat, lots of 1/2 dozen boxes, etc.
Seems my photobucket pictures are missing. :(

I picked up this 550-1 recently. It was made in 1953 and is close to being unused.

Your gun looks to be in excellent condition. Very nice. I got this out of the mailbox today. Box is real rough but the thrower looks unused.
