Remington shield

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Not really sure about the knife, probably someone will come along soon who knows exactly what it is and who made, in the meantime, I can tell you that it appears to be a later contract made Remington not one of the original 1920's through 1940 made knives that were made by Remington themselves.

What you have there is a knife that I believe was made back in the late 90`s by camillus. Dont know the story behind the shield. I can tell you that Ive saw them also with smooth green and red delrin handles. Sorry i cant tell you more but Im sure someone will come alond with more info. That is an interesting shield though.

That shield is suppose to replicate a 12 gauge shotgun shell, much like the old Remington bullet shields were to replicate a 30 caliber rifle cartridge.

Oddly, there's a picture of a knife that might be exactly the same knife as this one in the thread entitled "Remington photos". You might want to check it out, it's on the first page.
