Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
I have had this 2½" R7713 for many years but only noticed the two different Remington blade stamps recently while preparing to post it here on aapk. The knife is in excellent shape, strong spring and snap. Beautiful brown bone with no damage. No blade sharpening marks.
My question is: Why two different date stamps?
(1) The pen blade is marked: REMINGTON Straight Line marked inside circle only, with a broken line under the g: Remington. c 1935-1940
(2) The File blade is marked: REMINGTON UMC Marked inside circle only which would date this at c 1921-1924.
So, we have the first used Remington dating stamp 1921-1924 to the last Remington dating stamp 1935-1940.
I have only seen this stamp differentiation on a couple other listed Remington's and the aarp members explanation would be that one of the blades would have been changed.
Though I have never repaired a knife, I see no sign of blade replacement or pin work, and certainly not a knife that would be tampered with to increase value.
Hoping one of you Remington pros will explain.

More times than not a pen blade will only be stamped like yours (Remington, or Remington UMC inside a circle). Then the main blade will have the era stamp on it. I will have to look this evening but I don't think I have any pen knives where the stamps match.
Edit...here is a close-up of the R1013 I posted on the previous page.

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
Picked up a nice easy opener today. 3 3/8" . Blades have nice tight snap with half stop.
Probably paid more than I should've, but it just hit all the right buttons with me.

Nice knife lan. It is definitely hitting the right buttons for me. Great knife with a great etch. You probably didn't pay to much.
Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
Thank you, Keith. My intentions were to buy a nice knife that I would carry, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to carry this one. It may just sit on my desk to fiddle with awhile!espn77 wrote:Nice knife lan. It is definitely hitting the right buttons for me. Great knife with a great etch. You probably didn't pay to much.
