Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

I really appreciate AAPK, you guys and gals have shared so much information. I stumbled across this knife a few months back. There is no tang stamp and no etch. But from spending a little time reading here I had an idea what it was, I think. I remembered a post about a Remington offer in a Hunter Trapper Trader magazine. Is this one of those?

Yes it is. Most had only blade etch. I have owned both with blade etch only and tang stamped. Very few with tang stamping. They were offered as a premium in the late 20’s. I have a copy of the ad but I will have to find it. Thank you, John

Those are cool knives I think. Big man knives. I know a couple of guys have better examples than mine here, but here is mine. No tang stamp and no etch. I believe they came with an etch originally but mine has been rubbed off.

I believe the pattern is called a Bulldog. Here is how it was advertised in the Hunter-Trader-Trapper (HTT) magazine. My example has an etch, but has no markings whatsoever on the tang. You will notice the image in the magazine ad shows both etching and tang marks. Of the few of these that I have seen, my experience echos pearlroosterman's in that very few have tang marks.

Thanks for your replies. Mine has considerable wear looks like. I am happy to have come across it and even known what it was. Only one I have ever seen besides here. I am not focused on Remingtons like some are but have managed to find a few. I am really grateful to be able to have access to the knowledge here at AAPK.

I'm back on the R3413 authenticity kick. Since the convention ended on the last 2 pages I've been hunting for another example to measure to. I got a R3415 with the same exact blade configuration and nail nick. My R3413 has the incorrect shield but every other part of the knife matches the R3415.

Most toothpicks I see have a flat ground blade. This R933 has a classy saber grind imo.

Keith, that's a beautiful old Remington toothpick. I like how the etch straddles the saber grind line.

Nice scores on those knives Roger

I wanted to share this Remington Orange Blossom Lobster - I found this knife on a local hunt not long after I started collecting but never took any photos… I believe it is a R6454 but the model # is not on the pile side of the master blade… coupled to that the Remington tang stamp is very worn on the mark side of the same blade (almost more clear on photo of all blades open) - so I am not sure if the pile side model # was worn… it seems to me the knife was a favorite pocket carry as I can see the wear on the coined or milled liners – It seems that only the master blade was ever used with no sign of wear on the pen blades (but no doubt the sides of the pen blades next to the liner have some dark staining not seen on other side of those blades) - not even sure the master was ever sharpened and unfortunately just used and the cutting edge was abused abit towards the tip – snap is great on all and MOP is near perfect… the liners seem to be nickel silver but with a fair amount of brass given the color – the best I can tell from tang stamp is it “may” be 1933-1935… Also I believe I am seeing final factory finish or grind lines indicative of a glazed finish on the master blade that are only visible when the light hits it right – see tang stamp photo… I have maybe 5 or so knives, not Remington, that have original grind lines that are very similar…

Anyway is it unusual for a Remington Orange Blossom Lobster to “not” have a model # as a pile side stamp – or after 1931 to 1940 were not all knives stamped with model numbers? Trying to figure out this Remington pattern so thanks for any help!!
