2022 Vault Release

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Small Coke Bottle 25-1/2 it is. I’d expect to see it in just about every handle cover material before the year is over. If it holds true to past form, the “official” announcement will come during SHOT Show in a couple of weeks. Then at that time you’ll see it at SMKW, Shepherd Hills, and other dealers.

I wouldn’t think that the pattern for 2022 would be so similar to the previous year. That doesn’t seem to be the business model that they have been following with the last several knives.

Whatever the release pattern, it must be economical to produce, present a fair bit of versatility in production, be very desirable, and be within the affordability sweet spot.

Whatever the outcome, it sure makes for good conversations to be sure.

Super! Now that's a real cool pattern! I really like that one! ::super_happy::
I'll have to try to get one of them. ::nod::
I probably couldn't afford it anyways but I'll ask anyways. Do you guys think they'll make these with Stag handles? ::hmm:: I could start saving up and prepping for approval from the boss lady. ::nod:: ::super_happy::

Oh  that's a real beauty! ::nod:: ::tu::

I will start saving up for one next month. ::nod:: ::tu::
Already spent too much this month. ::facepalm:: Maybe get one of them with Stag handles for keeping & one with bone or delrin handles for carrying. ::hmm:: That would be cool! ::nod:: ::super_happy::

Assuming that it will be a **25 1/2, 2022 will be the 4tn year in a row Cases has chosen a pattern with all blades pivoting on one end and limited the maximum number of blades to two. Other wise I see a 3" handle as very disimilar to last year's 3 7/8" handle. The CopperHead's length is about perfect fo laying on the bottom of a front pants pocket. While on the upper edge of tiny, the small Coke Bottle still belongs in a watch pocket. I've accidentally pulled tiny knives out of pants pockets pinched between larger things I intended to get out then heard the knife hit the floor. I've not had that happen with knives as large as CopperHeads.

That's not intended to disparage tiny knives. They can be very useful. I bought sample of most of Case's tiny patterns but for no good reason haven't acquired a **25 1/2. It's likely this will be the year.

By the way, rea1eye, your 5225 1/2 looks great! ::tu::

Coke like Joe, Gotta Go.

Last year was okay but these little bitty things are kind of boring

My wishes for next year:
91 Cigar Whittler
94 Cigar Stockman
OR, if you wanna get rich selling knives,
How about the 71 pattern switchblade with some nice stag. ::ds::

I'm still trying to get my head around why Case would take the Barlow pattern and lock it up while at the same time keeping patterns such as the various stockmans, muskrats, and trappers standard fare. I argue the Barlow is a classic and an original pattern and should be maintained in the permanent line-up. ::td::

Did you vote to keep **09 Barlows in Case's catalog by buying them when they were a vault release? Collecting old ones or other brands does not count. While my buying five of last year's **49 vault hasn't yet made **49s a standard offering we'll see how long it is before Case makes more **49s. It appears Barlows are more popular with collectors than retail store buyers.

However, I'd love to see large **43 Barlows come back as a vault release. Over the last few years Wal-Mart's price for standard Buck 110s has risen from $27 to $60 so maybe there's hope for a large US made traditional.
