'65-69 vs. '79 No Dot

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

'65-69 vs. '79 No Dot

Post by cody6268 »

The tang stamps to '65-69 knives and the '70-79 knives look really close to me, with the exception the '70-79 knives was when the dot code system got started. Since Case usually subtracts dots, to me, that would mean, by my reasoning, and not having seen that many 1979 knives, a 1979 looks exactly like a '65-69.

Anyone got a photo of a '79 knife?

A 79 knife has 1 dot.
If no one has posted a picture by this evening I will when I get home.

This is a 1978 2 dot 6207 with the same style stamp (a 1979 stamp would have only 1 dot)"

Here's a 1979 1 dot 5207 with a different style tang stamp:

Thanks guys. I can't recall where not having any dots came from; but I guess if a knife tang is dirty/rusted/worn, it can be confused for a '65-69 easily.

Some gorgeous knives being shown too!
