Thar she blows!

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

No not ivory, just some type of bone. These were sold in display cases, i think in 1976&78, this one titled Moby Dick, and as Redryder pointed out the other one was "Nantucket Sleigh ride".

I have the set in displays, but this one was bought cheap without it's box. I only have about $250 into all three knives. I enjoy the display ones, but really enjoy the user pictured. Thanks for all the kind words guys. Ed

Fine knife. I'm glad to see you carry it. When I carry one of my scrim pieces it is a very rare occurrence. I tend to baby them. I've sometimes had the thought that perhaps we should have a thread dedicated to scrimshaw, but I'm guessing that scrim is too small a niche to justify it; that the thread would quickly go to sleep. Still, I've noticed that when a visitor observes my knives they are often drawn to the scrimshaw.
