There are still 6232s (or were after 2000) as far as I'm aware. I have one in a box from after that period. My sometimes-user 6232 is a '90s model. I wonder if this model is long enough to be considered a "Texas jack" like the 92 is.

I have a 62087 that was marked as a "Texas Jack" on the box. Need to check and see if I still have the box.

It is listed on the Case website as being retired sometime in the last ten years . No exact year given.

No, unfortunately the last year for the 6392 was 1990...sigh...one of my favorite Case patterns.

IIRC the last year for the 6292 was either 2000 or 2001.

Thanks, OH. Before today, I only knew that the Texas jack outlasted the stockman by a while. Thankfully, an expert showed up...

Steve, I'm right there with you and I'm usually keeping one eye on your store for the pattern.

I've almost given up on finding a nice 6392 and while I'm set for 6292s if one wows me I'm not averse to jumping on it. I love the 75 but there is definitely a place in my heart for the 92. Could the bigger frame be that much bigger of a seller for them these days? In 1990 they would have been competing with 4" stock knives from Schrade, Camillus, Boker, et al. so not producing a 6392 is a little strange to me.

My #1 6292 is from 1982 and walks&talks as well as any Case I have from any era. The 2000 jack isn't that much different. W&T/snap excellent. Fit is a slight issue with a small gap between one liner and spring and one bolster almost seemingly tilted outward a tiny bit, but this knife was also used when I got it and was always intended to be a user.

Tony, this thread has had me digging them out. I have found two 6392 (1973 & 1987) and two 6292 (1982 & 1996); of the four only the 1987 is visually sub-standard as compared to the other three (bone somewhat mismatched between the two sides, less finish work on the exterior of the knife, blocky, etc. - typical of the late 1980's era). I am happy to report that the 1982 and the 1996 are both equal in terms of fit and finish as well as walk & talk, with the 1973 being above them both, but slightly so. OH

Bottom knife is a 6292 XX, center knife is a 6392 USA, top knife 5392 10 dot. I think the XX Green bone was made in the 50's. The XX 6292 is my favorite of these. Wanted to show the 6292.
