Is this a Pattern 031?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Is this a Pattern 031?

Post by TwoFlowersLuggage »

I just got this 1940-64 barehead jack. It does not have a pattern number. It is ~3.75" closed. I'm horrible as identifying handle material, and at first I thought they might be ebony, but under a 60x scope I *think* it is some sort of smooth synthetic? It has brass liners. I saw some info that seemed to indicate that an 031 without a pattern number would make it pre-1949. Is that correct?

It looks like pocket worn slick black to me TFL. Doesn't look like a saber ground main blade. Could be a 22031 1/2 based on Steve Pfeiffer's book, 2nd Ed. Should be snappy as heck. ::tu::

TFL, it is as Steve has noted a 22031 1/2. Slick black composition handles. ::tu::
