33 pattern ?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

33 pattern ?

Post by Jporter1974 »

I have no doubt about the top one because it is stamped 6233 on the reverse but the other doesn't have any number stamping on it at all, only the case tested xx on the front. Is this an earlier version of the 1940-64 6233 and if not then what? When did case introduce the 6233?

Yes the lower knife is an older example, it goes back to the 1940 era and earlier. Most Case knives with the CASE TESTED stamp will not be marked with the pattern number.

No way to really know when Case introduced the 33 pattern, but I have seen them with 1920's era tang stamps.
